“An aged care or retirement community is much more than a collection of buildings. Our approach is it’s a ‘home’ to its residents, a sanctuary of care and support, and a reassurance for family and friends.”

The following press release was published at the end of September 2010. It shows the depth of resolve the SLP Group has, in ensuring the issues associated with the aging are getting attention in both the press and in Government.
Gold Coast-based supported living community developer, SLP scored a major coup this week securing the new Minister for Mental Health and Ageing, Mark Butler as guest on its local radio show yesterday on 4CRB.
Pictured with SLP founder Gregg Hewitt and in the job just a few weeks, the Minister was interviewed for SLP’s Stan Manning Show, which runs weekly offering seniors advice on accommodation and support.
SLP markets successful projects at Tweed Heads and Toowoomba and is on the lookout for further opportunities.
Gregg Hewitt said that the Minister clearly had a great grasp of ageing issues, going so far as to admit it was the only portfolio he wanted in the new Gillard Ministry.
Minister Butler said:
“A lot of people go into the Parliament wanting to be the Minister for Foreign Affairs or the Treasurer, I wanted to be Minister for Ageing. I’ve had a long association with the Aged Care sector.
“One of the truest tests of a decent society is how we treat our older Australians…who now need a bit of support from us.”
